Shaker Heights High School was placed on lockdown Monday night after a reported suicidal male was in the area.
The 17-year-old male, whose name was not immediately given, went to the rear of a yard with a gun in the 3000 block of Huntington Road, Shaker Heights police said.
Students were sheltered in the school for safety precautions. The students were participating in after-school activities.
Police located the teenager about 8:15 p.m. A gun was not located as of 9 p.m. Monday.
The school was released from the lockdown a short time later.
