A man is in serious condition after crashing his car into an Ohio State Highway Patrol post building Tuesday evening.
According to the OSHP, 24-year-old Dakota Clouse was driving a 2006 Ford Fusion eastbound on State Route 6 at a high rate of speed around 9:07 p.m. when he went off the right side of the road.
Clouse then overcorrected, went off the left side of the road, across the patrol post lawn and into the front of the building.
He was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle.
Troopers provided first aid to Clouse until EMS arrived. He was transported to Firelands Hospital with serious injuries.
The building sustained damage to the walls and windows of a conference room. A concrete sign and outdoor landscaping were also damaged.
No one was in the conference room at the time of the crash but there was a meeting in the room just one hour before the crash, officials said.
According to the OSHP, Clouse did not have a valid license due to an OVI conviction in September 2015. He also had an outstanding felony warrant through the Erie County Sheriff’s Office.
Alcohol and speed are suspected.
