A lumber shop at a private residence on the 14000 block of Hayes Road in Middlefield is a complete loss after a fire ripped through the structure Saturday.
Fire crews on scene said the homeowner was working in the shop when they started an air compressor motor. The shop then erupted into flames.
Crews said the wind made it hard to control the fire, firefighters were able to stop the fire from reaching a nearby house.
The Geauga County sheriff's department confirmed this to be a 2-alarm fire.
The homeowner was able to get out uninjured and no firefighters were injured.
Ten additional fire departments were called in for water supply.
