HURON COUNTY, Ohio — Authorities in Huron County are investigating after a 53-year-old man was killed in a crash involving two vehicles on US 20 in Wakeman Township on Wednesday.

State troopers responded at around 11:50 p.m. to U.S. 20 at Fitchville River Road.

Jerrold L. Emmons, 53, of Cardington, Ohio was operating a 2008 Honda CRV in the northbound lanes of Fitchville River Road when he failed to stop at the stop sign and struck a semi-tractor-trailer traveling eastbound on U.S. 20.

Troopers said Emmons struck the right side of semi-trailer.

Emmons, who was wearing his seatbelt, was pronounced dead from injuries sustained in the crash.

The driver of the semi-trailer was not injured.

State troopers said alcohol usage is a suspected factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
