A former Willoughby Hills teacher is facing charges for alleged sexual misconduct with two former students.

Anthony Polizzi, 41, is facing charges of sexual battery, gross sexual imposition and attempted sexual battery.

According to Willoughby Hills police, a former female student reported multiple incidents of sexual assault and misconduct involving Polizzi during the 2009-2010 school year, while she attended Cornerstone Christian Academy.

During the investigation, police identified a second female victim, who was also a former student.

Both students were 17 and 18 years old during the alleged assaults.

The investigation was submitted to the prosecutor's office and presented to a Grand Jury. Polizzi was arrested on Jan. 5 and charged with 46 counts of sexual battery, 34 counts of gross sexual imposition and 1 count of attempted sexual battery.

Cornerstone Christian Academy sent the following statement to News 5 regarding the allegations:

Anthony Polizzi left our employ [sic] 8 years ago in 2010.  Since accusations against him came to light 6 months ago, we have cooperated fully and are committed to continuing to cooperate fully with the Lake County Prosecutor's office.

We are deeply troubled by these allegations and cannot comment further as we do not want to impede the ongoing investigation.

Our prayers are with all the people seeking to bring justice to this situation.

Police believe it's possible there may be additional victims and they ask anyone who may have information to contact the Willoughby Hills Detective Bureau at 440-942-9111.
