Willoughby Hills Police are investigating whether a driver, who swerved into oncoming traffic Tuesday and killed a man, was drunk.
Police said the driver of a silver Volkswagen Jetta traveling westbound on Chardon Road Tuesday afternoon near River Road, crossed the double yellow lines into oncoming traffic, slamming into a red Honda Civic.
The driver of that Civic, a 26-year-old Eastlake man, was killed. His passenger, along with the driver of the Jetta, were hospitalized.
An Insurance Institute for Highway Safety study said July 4th is typically the deadliest day on America’s roads, followed closely by New Year’s Day.
