WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — New changes in Willoughby’s trash collection services are set to begin Friday, according to the city.

After entering a 5-year contract with Republic Services to collect trash, recycling and yard waste, the city of Willoughby will replace the former services of Waste Management starting on Nov. 1.

Republic Services should have delivered all residents their new 96-gallon garbage tote and 64-gallon recycling tote at this point.

Residents should begin using their new trash bins starting Friday. Any trash that does not fit in the bin can be placed in up to three personal 32-gallon bins or five 30-gallon trash bags.

Any Waste Management trash bins that residents have should be placed out for collection.

The city of Willoughby said that bulk items, such as furniture and appliances, will still be able to be picked up by Republic Services.

While yard waste can be discarded, it must be clearly labeled.

Trash pickup days should remain the same, but Republic Services will contact residents regarding any changes that go into effect regarding the schedule.

Willoughby residents with questions about their new trash services can contact Republic Services by calling 1-800-968-7789 or 216-441-6300. Answers can also be found by visiting their website here.
