A woman hired to look after a terminally ill man was arrested after stealing morphine from him, according to Eastlake Police.
Police say Rachel Everett, 26, answered an ad for a woman looking for someone to care for her husband. She arrived at the home after hospice workers dropped off medication and left for the day.
After Rachel's interview, it was agreed that she would begin work the next day. Everett asked if she could be paid in advance because she needed to buy groceries, according to police.
Officers say the terminally ill man's wife left to go get money, came back and paid Everett, who then left.
A short while later, the woman noticed her husband's medication was missing and immediately called police.
The woman called Everett and asked her to return the medication. Police found her a short while later tossing a now empty bottle of morphine into the woman's driveway.
Everett was arrested for stealing the morphine, possession of heroin, possession of cocaine and misdemeanor driving under suspension.
