The woman police said is responsible for plowing into an Amherst Township home, killing the mother inside, is officially facing charges.

According to court records, 23-year-old Adrianna Young of Oberlin is facing charges of aggravated vehicular homicide, vehicular assault and possession of drugs.

In late July, Young was driving southbound on state Route 58 when her car went off the road and into a field. It then ramped off a basement doorway and drove into the living room of the home.

Debra Majkut, 34, was pinned under the car along with one of her young children.

She did not survive.

The baby suffered second-degree burns, authorities said.

Troopers said they found marijuana in Young's car shortly after the crash and records show she had a history of impaired driving.

Majkut's family issued this statement to newsnet5.com:

Adrianna Young put this community at risk by driving impaired and texting, which took the life of a beautiful young wife and mother while sitting on her living room couch with her 5 month old son.  We have the utmost faith in the Lorain County Prosecutor’s Office and Judge Rothgery to ensure that justice is served so that a tragedy like this never happens again.
