An Elyria man is facing charges after police say he threw a dog off a cliff in the Lorain County Metroparks.
Deputies were called to the area around 3:30 p.m. last Tuesday after a man called 911, saying he saw two men throw a small brown dog off a cliff and into the river.
The 911 caller said he saw one of the men throw the dog off the cliff. Then, after the dog limped back up the ledge, the man threw the dog again. This time, the dog smacked the rocks and laid there.
When approached by law enforcement, one of the men, identified as Christopher Taylor, hid a dog chain in his pocket, deputies said. According to officials, he at first lied about the chain, but then said he has dogs at home and that the chain belongs to him.
Taylor was charged with cruelty to animals. He is currently out on bond.
The dog was never located.
