A woman died in a motorcycle crash on State Route 57 south of State Route 10 early Saturday morning, and the Ohio State Highway Patrol suspect alcohol to be linked to the cause of the incident.
OSHP reported at 2:35 a.m. Saturday, a 2001 Kawasaki motorcycle, driven by 19-year-old Justin D. Tancak, of Cleveland, was going north on State Route 57 with 21-year-old Sara N. Bevelacqua riding as the passenger. Tancak traveled off the east side of the road and overturned, causing both him and Bevelacqua to be ejected from the motorcycle.
Tancak was taken to Elyria University Hospital in Eaton Township to be treated for minor injuries, OSHP said. Bevelacqua, of Cleveland, died from her injuries at the scene.
OSHP noted Tancak and Bevelacqua were both wearing helmets at the time of the crash. Alcohol is suspected to be a factor in the incident.
The crash is under investigation.
