37-year-old man dies after vehicle overturns, hits a group of trees in Medina County

MEDINA COUNTY, Ohio — A 37-year-old man from Spencer, Ohio, was killed in a crash in Homerville, located in Medina County, on Wednesday.

State troopers said the crash happened just before 7 p.m. when a Ford F-150 was traveling eastbound on US 224 towards the intersection of State Route 301 when it traveled off the north side of the road through a parking lot, striking a parked car.

The parked car was a Ford Focus owned by the United States Postal Service, according to state troopers.

After the Ford F-150 struck the parked car, it hit a small group of trees and overturned.

The driver, identified as Jimmy L. Lafferty, 37, of Spencer, was partially ejected.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.

State troopers said he was not wearing his seat belt at the time of the crash. It’s unknown if drugs and alcohol were factors.
