Posted

An altercation between coworkers at the Gardens of Western Reserve Assisted Living facility led to one of them being stabbed Sunday.

The stabbing was reported in a 911 call, but then it was disconnected and no other information could be obtained, according to Streetsboro police. When officers arrived they found the victim, a 19-year-old woman from Kent and an employee at Gardens, receiving first aid from Gardens coworkers. She had severe cuts and was transported to the University Hospital Portage Medical Campus in Ravenna. She was released from the hospital on Monday and will require follow-up care.

The suspect was also a 19-year-old employee at Gardens. Witnesses say Emilie Brunswick, of Ravenna, fled the scene before officers arrived.

Police found Brunswick at a family member's home in Aurora, with the help of the Portage County Sheriff's Department. She was arrested for felonious assault.

Brunswick is at the Portage County jail pending arraignment.

Police say no patients or residents were ever in any danger during the incident.
