Kent Police Department mourns the death of beloved K-9 Aiko

KENT, Ohio — A retired K-9 of the Kent Police Department has died on July 9, according to Facebook post from the department.

K-9 Aiko and his partner Sgt. Ennemoser had an 8-year career together, working together during searches and narcotic calls.

In partnership together, Aiko and Sgt. Ennemoser were deployed 472 times, which included 299 narcotic calls, 54 building searches and 62 tracks.

His efforts got him a spot as a Dog Days of Summer Top Dog finalist.

After retirement, Aiko and Sgt Enngemoser's bond continued when Aiko went to live with him and his family.

"Thank you Aiko for your years of service & dedication to the City of Kent. You will always be a hero & a Top Dog to us. Sending love & prayers to the Ennemoser family during this time," Kent police said in a statement on Facebook.
