The numbers are out and the open-carry walk that took place on campus last month at Kent State cost the university some big bucks.

Kent State spent $65,000 on security measures, which included overtime, additional Kent State officers and dispatchers, confirmed Eric Mansfield, executive director of media relations for the university.

The cost also included supplies, facility preparation, transportation, communications and meals.

The walk organizers will not be billed, Mansfield said.

The walk was hosted by KSU graduate Kaitlin Bennett who went viral when she tweeted a picture of herself carrying a rifle and a graduation cap saying, "Come and take it" in May.
