Kent State University is mourning the death of one of its students.
Devin Moore died suddenly on Wednesday night when he was playing basketball at the Student Recreation and Wellness Center when he collapsed, according to school officials.
The senior and Omega Psi Psi member was taken to University Hospitals Portage Medical Center where he was pronounced dead.
The Portage County Coroner is conducting an autopsy to determine the official cause of death.
Moore was an aspiring journalist and a Cleveland native. He was a graduate of Beachwood High School.
Dozens of classmates and friends held a vigil for Moore at the school's student center after hearing the news of his death just hours before.
Kent State University did not give additional details surrounding his death but released the following statement.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Devin Moore’s family and members of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc.as they grieve his tragic passing.
Out of respect for his family, we will provide no further information surrounding his death.
