A 19-year-old has been arrested for trafficking drugs near Rootstown High School, and two others were arrested on drug-related charges while at the school.

On Monday, the Portage County Drug Task Force arrested 19-year-old Tarren R. Lowell, of Rootstown, and booked him in the Portage County Jail. On Tuesday, the Task Force arrested Madison Schlagel 18, of Ravenna, and Jason L. Sadler, 18, of Rootstown, for violations of state narcotic laws.

The Task Force began its investigation approximately three weeks before the arrests were made. The Task Force was following up on a complaint from Rootstown High School regarding two overdoses that occurred at the school.

On Monday, the Task Force served a search warrant at Lowell's home where a large amount of money, an assault rifle, marijuana, and shipping boxes were seized. Lowell was then taken into custody and charged with trafficking in drugs in the vicinity of a school, a fourth-degree felony, and possession of criminal tools, a fifth-degree felony.

Schlagel and Sadler were arrested at Rootstown High School on Tuesday. They were both charged with two counts of corrupting another with drugs, a second-degree felony.

The Task Force investigation is ongoing as officers attempt to locate the source of several pounds of marijuana from California.
