MANSFIELD, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating after two people died in a crash on US 30 in Mansfield on Tuesday afternoon, according to a release from state troopers.
The crash happened when the driver of a silver Pontiac G6, identified by troopers as Hailey Thompson, 21, of Mt. Gilead, who was traveling eastbound on US 30, crossed the median into the path of a Nissan Versa, driven by Alyssa Pine, 18, of Bloomville, who was traveling westbound.
The impact of the crash disabled the Nissan in the roadway while the Pontiac overturned and came to a stop off the right side of the westbound lanes.
Both drivers were killed on impact, troopers said.
State troopers said three passengers inside the Nissan were hospitalized with life-threatening injuries.
Alcohol and drugs are not suspected factors in the crash at this time. Troopers said Thompson was not wearing a seat-belt.
The crash, which closed US 30 for approximately three hours, remains under investigation.
