A typical welfare call took a strange turn for some police officers when they discovered more than two dozen lizards inside a home in Ontario, Ohio.
According to the Ontario Police Department, officers were sent to a home on the 100 block of Clare Road on June 3 to check on the resident after neighbors reported the home's front door was open.
Authorities found 29 reptiles inside the residence during the search. Some of the animals were dead, but it's not known how long they had been left there. The surviving lizards were taken to the Richland County Humane Society.
Police didn't say if the resident was located or if any charges were forthcoming.
