Husband charged with murder after woman is found dead in Madison Township garage

A man was arrested in connection with his wife's death after she was found dead in a garage near Mansfield Sunday.

The woman's husband, 39-year-old Herman Jared Preston, was charged with murder and is in Richland County Sheriff's Jail.

When sheriff's deputies arrived at the Madison Township home on Apple Lane around 9:35 a.m., they found a man in the driveway who said he was involved in an altercation with the woman.

In the 911 call, the man identified himself as the woman's husband.

An autopsy was being performed Monday morning in Cuyahoga County.

"My wife got drunk last night and she got mad at me. She went Crazy. She started attacking me. She cut me," the man told the operator. "I need a rescue squad."

The Bureau of Criminal Investigation and Identification was asked to respond and process the crime scene.

Richland County Prosecutor Bambi Couch also responded.
 
At 10:16 a.m., the Richland County Coroner's Office pronounced the woman—identified as 36-year-old Amanda Preston—dead.?
Neighbor Dawn Coulter said she didn't hear any commotion or see anything out of the ordinary.
 
"I'd like to know what happened to her, but I'm sure that will all come out in the press," Coulter said.
 
The Richland County prosecutor said the victim was strangled.
