26-year-old seriously injured in Alliance crash, troopers say alcohol suspected

A 26-year-old man was seriously injured when the car he was a passenger in went off the road and struck a tree and mailbox in Alliance on Monday.

Alcohol is suspected in the crash, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol's Canton Post.
 
The passenger, William M. Kinsey, Jr. was not belted and was ejected on impact, OSHP said. He was transported to Alliance City Hospital then flown by helicopter to Akron City Hospital.
 
Nicholas A. Simpkins, 24, of Alliance, was driving a Pontiac Grand Am south on Mahoning Avenue, north of Hartley Road, when he drove off the right side of the road at around 5:40 a.m., authorities stated.
 
Simpkins was belted and had minor injuries. He was transported to Aultman Hospital.
 
The crash is under investigation.
