MASSILLON, Ohio — A Massillon family is no longer collecting donations at their massive Christmas lights display after holiday thieves repeatedly targeted their home and took a donation box meant for St. Jude, according to an article from News 5 media partner Canton Repository.

In 2019, the donation box was stolen three times from the Sturm home at 2345 Amberwood Circle NE, prompting the family to do away with collecting money for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

“The plan is we’re going to continue with the light display, but I’m done helping the thieves,” Holly Sturm told The Canton Repository.

The family doesn’t know exactly how much money was stolen, but they estimate between $100-$150 was taken on two of the nights and between $200 to $300 was taken during the week of Christmas.

In 2018, the family used the popularity of their Christmas display to raise $2,700 for a local student who had been diagnosed with a brain tumor.
