PLAIN TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 23-year-old man has been charged in connection with several burglaries that happened in Plain Township.
The man, Abel Owens, is charged with two counts of burglary, both second-degree felonies; three counts of attempted burglary, all second-degree felonies, and two counts of criminal damaging.
According to the Stark County Sheriff's Office, deputies were called to the 2800 block of East 55th Street in Plain Township just before 11 p.m. for a burglary in progress. Authorities say the burglar broke a storm door and a window but didn't make their way into the home.
Deputies received another burglary call around 11:09 p.m. for a home in the 5600 block of Linder Drive. Authorities say Owens was caught fleeing the residence. Following his arrest, he was transported to the Stark County Jail.
The sheriff's office said Owens has also been identified as a suspect in several other burglaries involving homes in the area.
Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to call deputies at 330-430-3800.
