Overnight storms on Thursday caused many Stark County residents to wake up to damage to homes and streets.

But the National Weather Service confirmed to News 5 there was no evidence of a tornado. The NWS team assessed the damage Friday morning and determined it was caused by straight line winds.

Multiple trees on Mount Pleasant Northwest fell after a severe weather warning was issued for the area. The warning was issued around 9 p.m. Winds reached at least 60 miles an hour.

More than 5,000 people throughout Stark County were left without power as a result of the storms.
