HARTVILLE, Ohio — The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a crash involving a pedestrian that occurred in Hartville Thursday afternoon.

Around 1:55 p.m., a 2012 Chrysler Town & Country minivan was traveling south on Market Avenue, north of Smith-Kramer Street, according to troopers.

At the same time, a 46-year-old woman had pulled into her driveway, exited her vehicle and walked onto Market Avenue towards her mailbox, troopers said.

Witnesses told troopers that the woman walked out in front of the minivan and was struck.

The woman sustained serious injuries and was transported by Hartville EMS to Aultman Hospital, according to troopers.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers reminded pedestrians to use caution and be aware of their surroundings when walking near roadways, exiting vehicles when stopped on berms and walking to their roadside mailboxes.
