19-year-old killed, another 19-year-old seriously injured in Bath Township crash

BATH TOWNSHIP, Ohio — A 19-year-old was killed in a crash that occurred in Bath Township Friday evening, according to the Ohio State Highway Patrol.

Around 6:02 p.m., a black 2017 Volkswagen Golf hatchback was traveling east on West Bath Road. A gray 2018 Toyota Camry sedan then turned from Ghent Hills Road onto West Bath Road and was struck by the Volkswagen, troopers said.

The Volkswagen continued off the left side of the roadway and struck a tree before coming to rest in the road, according to troopers.

The 19-year-old driver of the Volkswagen, Nicholas Kuchar, of Akron, sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash, troopers said.

A 19-year-old passenger sustained serious, life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to Akron General Hospital, according to troopers.

The 60-year-old driver of the Toyota sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash, troopers said.

Troopers said everyone was wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.

The crash remains under investigation.
