AKRON, Ohio — An Akron man found guilty of raping a teenage girl has been sentenced to life in prison, according to the Summit County Prosecutor.

Juba Ali, 64, was found guilty of rape, kidnapping with sexual motivation and gross sexual imposition.

The rape occurred not long after he'd served time in prison for another. In May of 1998, Ali was found guilty of rape and kidnapping. He was sentenced to the maximum sentence of 21-and-a-half years in prison. Ali served his entire prison sentence and was released in September 2018. Two months later, Ali was with a teenage girl he knew when he drove her to a secluded area in Akron and raped her.

Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Alison Breaux sentenced Ali to life in prison Monday and determined him to be a sexually violent predator.

Ali will be eligible for parole after serving 18 years of his prison sentence.
