Akron woman charged for falsifying records to get childcare benefits

AKRON, Ohio — An Akron woman is facing two felony charges for allegedly submitting false information to the Summit County Department of Job and Family Services to receive childcare benefits.

Marquita E. Wade, 36, is charged with tampering with records, a third-degree felony and theft, a fifth-degree felony, according to the Summit County Sheriff's Office.

Authorities said that between July 2018 and June 2019, Wade reported fraudulent information to jobs and family services.

As a result, Wade received around $7,257 in benefits she was not supposed to receive, the sheriff's office stated.
