Barberton bar owner sentenced to 16 years for kidnapping, assault

BARBERTON, Ohio — A Barberton bar owner has been sentenced to 16 years in prison for kidnapping and assault.

According to court records, on Jan. 1, the victim left the Garage bar owned by Todd Cleavenger, 42, and went to another bar.

When the second bar closed, the victim was taken home by a friend.

When the victim arrived home, Cleavenger was there and shoved her to the ground, according to court records.

Cleavenger beat the victim inside of the home and prevented her from leaving.

She eventually climbed out of a window, went to a neighbor's house and called police.

The victim suffered significant injuries, including a broken nose.

Cleavenger was found guilty of kidnapping, felonious assault and abduction.
