A 25-year-old Barberton man pled guilty Friday in connection with the rape of a 6-year-old girl, according to the Summit County Prosecutor's Office.
Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced Friday that Justin Ramirez pled guilty to rape, a felony of the first degree.
In March 2015, the now 8-year-old victim told her mother that Ramirez inappropriately engaged in sexual conduct with her when she was 6 years old. Summit County said when Ramirez was interviewed by detectives, he made admissions that confirmed the victim's statement.
Summit County Common Pleas Court Judge Tammy O'Brien is scheduled to sentence Ramirez on Jan. 22 at 9 a.m.
Ramirez faces life in prison. At the sentencing, it is expected that Ramirez will be designated as a Tier III sex offender, which will require him to register with the local sheriff's department every 90 days for the rest of his life if he is ever released from prison.
