A homeowner held a burglar at gunpoint until authorities arrived in Coventry Township Monday night.

According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, 51-year-old Thomas R. Duncan of Tallmadge entered a house around 6:15 p.m. through a side door. Duncan took some clothing and began rummaging through the kitchen while the homeowner, Johnathan Filinger, and his family were in another part of the house.

Filinger heard Duncan and confronted him with a handgun before calling the sheriff's office. Once deputies arrived at the scene, Duncan was arrested and charged with burglary. He is currently being held in the Summit County Jail, and further charges are pending.

Neither the burglar nor the homeowner were injured and the incident is still under investigation.
