Norton 'active shooter' charged with attempted murder, inducing panic

Charges have been filed against an 'active shooter' who was arrested on Oct. 3 by authorities after for firing at police from a storage unit on Barber Road.

David Michael Havrilek, 41, of Akron, has been charged with four counts of attempted murder, four counts of felonious assault, having weapons under disability and inducing panic.

Havrilek fired at police and officers returned fire

He was taken to Akron General Hospital with at least one gunshot wound, according to officials at the scene.

An assault charge was also filed by the Akron Police Department against Havrilek for allegedly assaulting a nurse after he arrived at the hospital.
