A Cuyahoga Falls resident was shot by police after allegedly pointing a gun at officers during a standoff on Thursday morning.

According to authorities, 39-year-old Robert Horn-Epling was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police were initially called to the residence — located on the 1900 block of Cook Street — around 7:15 a.m. after receiving a domestic violence call.

When officers arrived, they met with a woman who had been hurt in a domestic incident. A small child was also removed from the residence, according to police.

Police tried to talk to Horn-Epling, but he ran into the home with a gun and refused to come out, police said.

During the standoff the man pointed the gun at police and was shot by an officer.

Horn-Epling was charged with domestic violence, aggravated menacing and inducing panic.
