FAIRLAWN, Ohio — Fairlawn police said a 17-year old was arrested Friday, accused of firing a gun twice in the air after an argument with a group of teens in the parking lot of Summit Mall.

Investigators said no one was injured, but the mall was locked down while police searched for the shooter and potential victims.

"I was trying to get in but it was completely like packed from cops and other things so I couldn't go in," said Sergio Vadivia.

Police said the first 911 calls came in around 3pm.

"A gal came running through our front door all pale and heard gunshots," said Jill Andrew who works at the mall. "We looked out the window and police were flying up and down here. We saw some police running through the mall."

Officers from seven departments rushed to the scene, eventually spotting the 17-year old suspected gunman and catching him after a brief foot chase.

"We were all okay, but we heard like yelling a screaming outside," said Richard Sisson who works at the mall. "It was pretty scary. I mean you don't know what's happening."

Police said they found a gun and shell casings at the scene.

Two Copley Fairlawn schools near the mall were also placed on lockdown.

After police cleared the mall and found no other threats the lockdown was lifted.

Some stores did remain open Friday night, while others closed early after the shooting.

"Terrifying, I'm ready to leave," said Andrew as she got into her car to go home.

Fairlawn police said their investigation continues.
