A man was found dead in his cell at the Summit County Jail last week.
According to the Summit County Sheriff's Office, 63-year-old Wayne Jordan was found unresponsive in his cell by a deputy around 12:30 p.m. on Feb. 12.
The deputy and jail staff attempted to resuscitate him but he was pronounced dead at the scene by Akron fire officials.
The sheriff's office reports Jordan's death appears to be a suicide. Officials say he showed no signs of being suicidal when he was medically screened.
Jordan, from Green, Ohio, was booked into the jail on Oct. 2 of last year for rape and gross sexual imposition.
