A Springfield Township police officer has been terminated following a December incident in which he showed up to work while intoxicated.
The township's board of trustees fired Officer Joe Holsopple on Jan. 9, according to Chief David W. Hoover.
On Dec. 19, 2017, Holsopple was accused of showing up for work while intoxicated. A fellow officer reported the incident and Holsopple was given a blood-alcohol test.
The initial breathalyzer test came back as .68 BAC and the officer's urine test came back as 1.34 BAC.
Holsopple has filed an appeal and an arbitration hearing is pending.
