A University of Akron student was sentenced Tuesday for the stabbing death of his roommate last year.
Kendal Scheid, 23, of Grant Street in Akron, was sentenced to three years in prison for the death of 23-year-old Duncan Unternaher.
According to Akron police, Scheid grabbed a knife and stabbed Unternaher in the chest during an argument over fast food at their Grant Street apartment on Dec. 3, 2016. Unternaher died two days later.
Scheid pleaded guilty to an involuntary manslaughter charge in October.
According to a news release, prosecutors asked for an 8-year prison sentence. Judge Mary Margaret Rowlands stated she would consider an early release for Scheid in six months, prosecutors said.
