A shooting in Barberton that injured three people over the weekend stemmed from a fight over a woman, according to police.

Police responded to the area of Wooster Road and Sylvester Street Saturday at 9 p.m. for a report of a shooting.

The investigation revealed that two groups had gathered for a mutual fight over a woman and words were exchanged between an old boyfriend and a current boyfriend.

A 23-year-old Barberton man was taken to a local hospital for a gunshot wound to the neck. He is in stable condition.

Two other victims — a 28-year-old woman and 48-year-old man — also sustained non life-threatening injuries.

Quawlin Mabry, 18, of Akron, was charged in connection with the shooting. He was arrested Monday morning by the Barberton Police Department and the US Marshals.
