The University of Akron is switching over to a four-day school week — but Fridays don't really count when you're in college anyway, right?
The university announced the change Wednesday, which will be implemented this fall. The school says this new schedule will allow most students to focus on classes Monday through Thursday and participate in career-focused experiences on Friday.
The new initiative is composed of a "Five-Star Friday" and "Four-Day Core" schedule, giving students Fridays to focus on internships, cooperative education, tutoring and other events without scheduling conflicts.
The university says it will also enhance its weekend, online and evening scheduling.
