A Wayne County deputy was stuck with a needle on Saturday during a routine warrant arrest.

According to the sheriff's department, the suspect had a syringe in his pocket which stabbed the deputy while he was performing a pat down of the suspect.

The suspect told deputies he carries the Hepatitis C virus. The deputy was treated accordingly.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Department says this is one of the hazards law enforcement faces everyday, which many may not realize.
