HURON, Ohio — Police found the body of a 16-year-old from Huron who was missing since Friday night, according to the Erie County Sheriff's Office.
The teen was last seen leaving his home in the 1200 block of Riverside Drive on a red mountain bike. He was heading to state Route 13 near the Thunderbird Hill Golf Course.
Deputies received a call around 7:30 a.m. Sunday morning from two people who were cutting through an open area near Route 13 between Route 2 and the southern city limits of Huron when they discovered a body.
The teen's bicycle was found with the body, along with a gun, deputies said.
Deputies said the cause of death appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
Authorities are currently investigating and an autopsy is being scheduled.
