The pro-Donald Trump girl group “USA Freedom Kids” went viral after a breakthrough performance at a Florida rally earlier this year.
Although the group’s viral performance and lyrics once praised the Republican presidential nominee, that commitment seems to be a thing of the past.
According to Time and other sources, Jeff Popick, the father behind the group, now plans to sue Trump, noting, “It’s important that I, as a role model for the group, hold their feet to the fire.”
Popick -- whose daughter Alexis leads the group -- has reportedly consulted with an attorney to file a lawsuit against the Trump campaign for violating its agreement with the group, which apparently included promises that never materialized.
“There is a legal issue here, but there also is a morality issue,” Popick told Time on Tuesday.
Popick said the girls were promised a booth at the January rally in Pensacola, Florida, in order to pre-sell their album – a promise that was never kept.
Additionally, the campaign then asked the girls to perform during a campaign event in Des Moines, Iowa.
After paying out-of-pocket for the traveling expenses, Popick said the girls were told upon arrival that they wouldn’t be able to perform.
“We got to Des Moines and their plan quote-unquote changed and we were told to just sit in the audience,” he said.
He noted of his decision for the lawsuit, “I’ve asked and asked them for many months to make it right, and they haven’t, and if that means going the legal route, then so be it.”
Lyrics from the viral “USA Freedom Kids” performance included the following:
“Apologies for freedom — I can’t handle this! When freedom rings, answer the call! On your feet, stand up tall! Freedom’s on our shoulders, USA! Enemies of freedom face the music. Come on boys, take them down!”
