In an Instagram post, the rapper writes that Zachaeus Waters' story brought tears to his eyes so he contacted the boy's father and started a fundraising drive. Fellow hip-hop star Snoop Dogg also spread the word about the effort on his Instagram account. An online fundraising site showed Wednesday morning that the total raised has risen to more than $8,700.

Nathaniel Elijah Dixon is charged with murder and other counts in the Asheville, North Carolina, attack. The 24-year-old was arrested in Ohio shortly after the shootings.
