HOCKING COUNTY, Ohio — The Hocking County Sheriff's Office arrested a man who allegedly stole a front end loader and flipped over a woman's car.

On Saturday, deputies received a call that a John Deere front end loader was used to flip over a vehicle on Main Street in Murray City.

Witnesses said the vehicle then fled north, where it hit another vehicle and sped away.

A witness followed the front end loader, which pulled into the Murray Timber and Log Company and the operator fled on foot into the woods.

Deputies began searching for the driver and arrested Carl Williams III, 26, without incident.

Williams admitted to stealing the front end loader, which was valued between $60,000 and $80,000 from Murray Timber and Log Company, where he was an employee. He also confessed to purposefully flipping the car, which belonged to a female acquaintance, deputies said.

He has been charged with Theft of a Motor Vehicle and transported to the Regional Jail to await his arraignment in Hocking County Municipal Court, according to deputies.

Additional charges for Criminal Damaging, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Operating a Vehicle under the Influence of Alcohol are likely to be presented to the Hocking County Grand Jury at a later date, deputies said.
