ODOT crews have been hit 5 times since May 28 for a total of 16 times since February

CLEVELAND — The Ohio Department of Transportation has confirmed that crews were hit early Thursday morning on I-77 near the Ontario Street exit—making this the fifth time since May 28 crews have been hit while working on roadways.

ODOT said that a semi clipped the front bumper of an ODOT truck on I-77 near the Ontatio/East 9th Street exit. No injuries were reported.

On Wednesday, ODOT’s Northwest Ohio District 1 said an ODOT vehicle was struck while working on the side of U.S. 224 near the village of Gilboa, located in Putnam County. Fortunately, no employees were injured.

Since February, ODOT crews have been hit 16 times.

Ohio law requires all drivers to move over one lane when passing any vehicle with flashing or rotating lights parked on the roadside. If moving over isn't possible, drivers are expected to slow down.
