The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash on State Route 241 involving a horse-drawn buggy and a car.

According to police, a 17-year-old girl was driving the horse-drawn buggy and 19-year-old Steven Miller was driving a 2006 Dodge Ram 2500.

While Miller was traveling northeast on SR 241, the girl was traveling north on Township Road 614 when she failed to yield for a stop sign and pulled into the path of Miller, police said. Miller swerved to avoid the buggy, but he struck the horse and his car overturned multiple times before resting on its side.

Police said Miller only had minor injuries from the accident and the 17-year-old girl was uninjured.

Nora Hershberger, 18, was a passenger in Miller's car, police reported. Hershberger sustained serious injuries and was taken to Aultman Hospital in Canton. She was then taken to MetroHealth Medical Center in Cleveland. Police learned that Hershberger later died from her injuries.

18-year-old Rachel Yoder and another 17-year-old girl were passengers in the horse-drawn buggy. They were uninjured, according to police.

Police said none of the occupants in either vehicle were wearing seat belts.
