Getting the work done in the pool is senior Jimmy Kaatz of St. Mary Central Catholic in Sandusky.
He's working hard to lead his team and himself to the state championship swim meet. Jimmy is the heart and soul for the Panthers swim team. This season he helped his team win their first conference meet.
"When they heard that we won they said you won because you have Jimmy Kaatz. That's right we have Jimmy Kaatz swimming for us. He was one of the leaders that helped us achieve that goal," said head swim coach Michele Gallagher.
Jimmy is also on the baseball team. He may be an amazing athlete but he is also an amazing student. He's an Eagle Scout, member of National Honor Society, and academic challenge. He was also nominated to the United States Naval Academy by Senator Rob Portman. With a 4.5 GPA Jimmy is on track to fulfill his goal to be a nuclear engineer.
"I'm definitely broadening my range of science taking the honors chemistry, and honors physic. And making sure I keep up my grades in calculus and algebra to make sure I'm ready for the math and science in college and in the workforce," Kaatz said.
