The song is called "Cleveland Against the World" and features cameo appearances by many local celebrities you may recognize including: Cavs great Austin Carr, The SirQus (featuring members of the Cavs Scream Team), 1490am hosts Angelica & Kent, and City of Tallmadge Mayor David Kline.
The music video will premiere on Monday, December 7, 2015 at 7:30 a.m. during NewsChannel 5's Browns mobilecast Dawgs On The Run. Fans of Dawgs On The Run may already recognize bits and pieces of the song because you hear part of it during the shows open every Monday morning.
But this video takes it one step further. It was directed by Emmy winning Director Joddy Eric Matthews (#50Fathers, The Bubble, Deadly Return) and showcases the music of Maurice featuring hip hop artist Luminari XI. In the video, you'll notice many of the hot spots around Northeast Ohio that make the area great.
“I saw this as a great way to have fun, deliver some high energy and rep Northeast Ohio,” says Maurice. “The video is sports-themed but the song was written to be about more than sports. Cleveland tends to get a bad rap and all too often we Clevelanders feel like we have our backs against the wall. I wanted this to be an anthem to express how we stand proud for our town.”
Maurice is hoping that the song will catch on in a major way and Luminari XI shares his excitement, “Cleveland is a special place. It’s a passionate city with some of the best fans in the world. This song is about them and the heart we have in this city. It’s just an honor to be a part of this wave of excitement – and someday soon, a championship wave!”
