CLEVELAND — After a weekend filled with severe storms, damage reports, and tornado warnings, Northeast Ohio is finally getting a chance to catch its breath.
Most of the area stays dry today with brighter skies returning, but not everyone is completely finished with the rain. Isolated light showers will continue to drift through the Snowbelt from time to time, especially across Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties.
The bigger story for everyone is the breeze. A northwest wind will gust up to 20 mph through the day. It won't cause major problems, but you'll definitely notice it if you're spending time outside. That wind is also helping keep temps cooler, with highs only reaching the lower 70s this afternoon.
The quiet stretch continues into Tuesday with lighter winds, more sunshine, and temps climbing a few degrees warmer. By midweek, many spots will be flirting with 80°. Rain chances return Thursday, and we're already keeping a close eye on the forecast, especially with Browns football back in town.
Power of 5 Region Spotlight: Snowbelt
While much of Northeast Ohio enjoys a dry and brighter Monday, the Snowbelt is hanging onto a little leftover moisture from the weekend system. Expect occasional light showers through the day across Lake, Geauga, and Ashtabula counties. Rainfall will be light, but you may want the umbrella nearby if you're spending time outdoors.
The good news is no severe weather is expected. As skies gradually brighten later today and the rain fades, the region joins the rest of Northeast Ohio in a much quieter weather pattern heading into Tuesday.
