CLEVELAND — After the first winter storm of the season dumped more than a foot of snow in some places, snowplow companies have been trying to clear driveways and parking lots nonstop.

NJ Detrick, who runs Reliable Snowplowing, said his crews operate from Toledo to Youngstown, serving about 450 businesses. Like everyone else right now, they are adjusting as they go. Even with more people working from home, demand has spiked from essential businesses.

"We haven't been able to prepare for this because we've never seen anything like this. It's changing the way that we've ran our business, overnight," he said. "Essential businesses, they need to have their top service right now. Because now more than ever the supply chain is just demanding instant service. So we do everything in our power to make sure that happens."

As far as safety precautions go, he said it’s a pretty socially distant business model because online payment makes it possible to have little interaction with the customer.
